The Premier League kicks of at Leeds and is my favourite darts tournament as you get to see the best darts players playing in the same night and it is on every Thursday night on Sky Sports until May 2016. It is the first to 7 legs with a maximum of 12 legs which means that there is the potential of a draw so whatever way you decide to bet you really need to take the draw out of the equation by using markets such as laying, draw no bet, +0.5 legs or double chance.
Peter Wright v Michael Smith (7.15pm)
It’s easy to make a case for both players here and I think this is the toughest match to call. If there is going to be a draw tonight it is likely to be this one, but personally I will be giving this match a miss.
Michael Van Gerwen v James Wade (8.10pm)
After Michael’s performance last weekend at The Unibet Masters where he got a 112 3 dart average in 1 match, he just has more fire power than James so I can see him winning his opening Premier league match comfortably enough.
Phil Taylor v Raymond van Barneveld (9.00pm)
This time last year Phil changed his darts and got whitewashed by Michael van Gerwen and he has done the same again this year. But this time around his new darts are working for him as he almost beat Michael in the semi-finals in last weeks Unibet Masters. Barney doesn’t play enough competitive darts in my opinion and as a result his form is too inconsistent so I can see Phil winning this one playing his B game.
Gary Anderson v Adrian Lewis (9.45pm)
Gary admitted last week that he hardly picked up a dart after winning The World Championships for the 2nd year running and it showed in his matches. I am sure that he has been pounding the darts board this week but this match has too much of a grey area for me so I will be sitting this one out.
Robert Thornton v Dave Chisnall (10.30pm)
Thigh slapping Robert Thornton has gone out in the first round in his last 2 tournaments, The World Championships and The Unibet Masters. Chizzy knocked him out of the Unibet Masters 10-9 after trailing 8-0 and went on to finish runner-up. I expect Chizzy to make it 2/2 on the trot against Robert in the last match of the night.
