Judd Trump is the latest top seed to be knocked out and this has scuppered my chances of making any money from this tournament. But I will soldier on and try make the losses as small as I can.
Ford who beat Selby, Holt who beat O’ Sullivan and Ebdon who beat Robertson all got knocked out in round 2! So it’s on to the quarter finals now and hopefully the end of the shock results as otherwise a diet of beans on toast awaits me!
We are down to a 1 table set up with all the matches from here on being televised. The quarter finals are still the best of 7s.
Thepchiaya Un Nooh v Ding Junhui (1pm)
These 2 this year are known for their antics in 147s this season as Thepchiaya missed the final black to get 1 in the UK Championships and Ding got 1 in the Welsh Open when Ronnie decided to go for a 146 instead.
Ding is back after 18 months in the doldrums and based on his performances so far in this tournament should be the likely victor.
Ali Carter v Joe Perry (3pm)
Joe Perry has only dropped 1 frame so far and has got a century break in both matches which are in fact the 2 highest breaks of the tournament of 125 and 133. Ali has 1 too a 103 in round 1 against Luca Brecel.
Shaun Murphy v Liang Wenbo (7pm)
Shaun is the tournament favourite and has beaten Michael White 4-0 and Martin Gould 4-1. Linag is playing well but Shaun just has that little bit extra up his sleeve to win this match if it gets close.
