So far so good with 4/5 winning tips for round 1 and it’s been an eventful tournament so far.
When Mark Williams was asked for his thoughts on his Steve Davis’s retirement he said in jest ” I thought he retired 5 years ago!” But I wish Steve a happy retirement and hope his passion turns him into a “Snooker Star DJ.”
More staged headlines for Ronnie as he refused a post match interview which goes hand in hand with last years playing with no shoes on. Now if you believe all this you are very naive as its all staged to get column inches and it’s working! Simon Cowell would be proud of these headlines as Ronnie continues to play snooker’s pantomime villian.
Hawkins v O’ Sullivan (Sat 10am)
Ronnie is far superior in the head to heads but he wasn’t happy with his performance in the last round I don’t see the point of backing him in the handicap market. Yeah he should win but I will back him instead to get the highest break in the match as he is a prolific century scorer and Barry isn’t.
Walden v Higgins (Sat 7pm)
Ricky Walden has come into this tournament with 2 back to back runner-up places to his name but he struggled in his first round match and only just fell over the line. John on the other hand won convincingly and is very happy with his game. So I am going for the season Crucible veteran here.
Trump v Ding (Sun 10am)
This match should be a lot close than the odds suggest and it’s only a matter of time before one of these two wins this tournament. Ding is back and should not be underestimated here as Judd can go off the boil mid match. Regardless who wins this match it should be a cracker if both play to their potential.
Allen v Wilson (Sun 7pm)
Wilson played well against Joe Perry in the last round and came through in a deciding frame. But Mark Allen is too inconsistent to me so I will sit this match out.
O’ Sullivan highest Break Scorer
Higgins -1.5 Frames
Ding +3.5 Frames
