Players Championship Finals – Sat 26th Nov (Afternoon)

A varied opening day for the Players Championship in Minehead with the highlight being a nine darter by Alan Norris. Then on the flip side we had three players who made it through to round two today with low percentages on their doubles: Gary Anderson (23%), Brendan Dolan (27%) & van Peer (29%).

Today’s format is the same as yesterday’s with it being the best of eleven legs and the afternoon session being spit between the televised stage and the non televised arena in Reds Bar. Then the remaining 16 players fight it out on the big stage for the rest of the tournament.

Chisnall  v J Lewis – (1pm Televised)

Chizzy had double trouble last week and it seems to be back to haunt him again as he only got 33% in his opening match yesterday. Jamie Lewis seems to be getting better year on year and managed an impressive 60% on his double against Jamie Cavan.

In this short format doubles play such an important part of winning so it’s Jamie for me with an added bit of safety in the handicap market.

Payne v van Peer – (3pm Not Televised)

Josh Payne reminds me of me of a beefed up Macaulay Culkin, in fact the two of them have never been spotted in the same room together! He has the same sports psychologist in his corner as Keith Deller had before he won the World Championship and we all know what Keith went on to do!

Josh was significantly stronger than berry van Peer on his three dart average and on his doubles and that should be enough to come out on top in this match.

van Barneveld v A Lewis – (3.30pm Televised)

Barney was getting some impressive three dart averages in the Grand Slam Of Darts last week and has carried that form over here by getting the highest three dart average yesterday of 107.

Adrian never won a match in the group stage of the the Grand Slam Of Darts and as these two are both confidence players it has to be Barney for me

White v Jenkins – (4pm Not Televised)

Terry Jenkins is another player hinting at retirement but he should stick at it a bit longer as he us playing some steady darts at the moment.

I don’t have any stats for Ian White’s opening match but I watched it and he didn’t just fall over the line, he was pushed over it as he missed around nine match darts. Based on that alone it’s Terry Jenkins at odds against for me.
