The Masters – Outright Wins (Part 1)

Alexandra palace the snnoker and darts venue masters the pdc world championship
The Alexandra Palace

It was not that long ago that the Ally Pally was full of darts fans in fancy dress and Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen met in the final of the World Championship. A much more subdued affair starts tomorrow when Ronnie O’ Sullivan defends his title at the Masters.

It all starts at 1pm on tomorrow with free coverage on BBC. But I will be watching it on Euro Sports as I prefer their studio coverage with Colin Murray, Jimmy White & Neal Foulds.

I love this tournament, but get pretty tired pretty quickly off hearing the annoying chants of “Go On Ronnie” every time he plays a shot.

I have done well so far this season by laying The Ronald and trading Mark Selby, which has paid dividends as The Ronald hasn’t won this season and Mark has won three times! So it’s more of the same again!

Round one tips will be up by 10am Sunday.

Ronnie O’ Sullivan

The Ronald plays well fresh and has probably played the most snooker this season so far than he ever has for any whole season! Remember when he took a season off and then came back to win the world championship!

He hasn’t had a decent Christmas break either as he was playing in that “Micky Mouse” Championship League in that golf club in the back of beyond this month plus he had a weekend at Goffs in Ireland for the Snooker Legends Tour last weekend.

That aside, his last win was in the Welsh Open in February 2016 and of course the Masters in January 2016; which he was amazing in both. But hasn’t produced the same standard since. Yes he will come good again, but it will be after a month or so break from competitive snooker!

Mark Selby

Mark has an easy half of the draw with O’ Sullivan, Robertson,. Trump & Higgins all in the opposite half.

He has won three tournaments this season and is the form man coming in to this tournament.

Mark is the second favourite in the betting at 4/1 & Ronnie is the favourite at 3/1. It should be the other round in my opinion.

I will be trading Mark and will put up a separate post when I intend on laying him back.
