The quarter finals start at 12.45pm and then there is a break until 7pm when the semi-finals start followed closely by the finals. The perfect way to spend a Sunday in front of the box.
Only one real shock result in round one and that was Robert Thornton beating James Wade 10:9.
A small one point loss going into the quarter finals and I am very confident indeed of turning this around before the 7pm session.
It’s still the first to 10 legs tomorrow afternoon.
Phil Taylor v Peter Wright (1pm)
The bookies can’t split these two and neither can I so i will avoid any win markets on this one and just sit back and enjoy whatever unfolds as I am sure this will be a great match from a spectator’s point of view.
But I will be siding with Peter here on the 180s as he got nine in his last match compared to Phil’s five.
Gary Anderson v Raymond van Barneveld (2pm)
Gary was fantastic in his opening match getting the highest three dart average of 110, nine 180s, a 142 checkout and 56% on his doubles. Based on that he beats Barney all day long with best overall stats so far!
Robert Thornton v Adrian Lewis (3pm)
This match I will avoid like the plague as Robert got 33% on his doubles and Adrian only managed 36%. When both players are missing doubles anything can happen so I will keep my mustard dry here as there are plenty of other betting opportunities.
Michael van Gerwen v Mensur Suljovic (4pm)
Michael should win here but I going to be betting on this not to be a one sided affair. Michael had the worst percentages on his doubles in round one of only 32% compared to Mensur’s impressive 59%. I can only assume this was down to the fact that he hasn’t been practising much this year and who can blame him after winning the World Championship and getting the good news that his wife is expecting their first child.
Mensur’s has had two close matches against Michael in their last three games. Mensur won 6:4 and Just lost a decider 6:5, so he has proven that can win legs off MvG and is very capable of winning five legs on Sunday. Afterall in round one he managed a three dart average of 100 and was far superior than MvG on his doubles!
However Might Mike has been pounding the treble twenty bed getting ten 180s compared Mensur’s five.
