February is jam packed with snooker as there are matches every day and on Monday we see the start of the World Grand Prix which is covered on ITV4 starting at 6.45pm today!
So far this season we have seen three players win their first ranking titles, Anthony McGill, Mark King and Anthony Hamilton. Which confirms to me that snooker’s elite are slowly losing their stranglehold on the game.
This tournament starts with the first to four frames so I won’t be backing any player to win outright from the start as with a few bad frames here and there and it’s game over.
I have two tips for tonight’s matches here.
The draw and results can be found here.
Ronnie O’ Sullivan
Although The Ronald won The Masters I didn’t think that he played particularly well and he followed that up by losing 5:4 to Mark King after leading 4:1 in round one of the the German Masters.
I will be taking him on again here, but he is a bit high for me at the moment, so I will lay him at 4.80 (between 7/2 and 4/1) in running which ideally should be matched if he wins his first match against Yan bingtao on Tuesday night.
The Ronald potentially has to play Neil Robertson in round two and although Neil hasn’t been on top form in recent months, he will turn a corner at some point soon. Plus there is the possibility of a semi-final clash with Mark Selby.
Lay means not to win and can only be done on a betting exchange such as Betfair.
