Round two reaches it’s conclusion this afternoon in the Guild Hall in Preston and then the quarter finals start at 7pm.
The scheduling of this tournament is bizarre to say the least as yesterday Ding Junhui played two matches and today the winners of the the round two afternoon matches play again tonight.
So as the line up for tonight’s matches isn’t know yet there should be a further post going up around 6pm for the evening session tips.
Ronnie O’ Sullivan v Neil Robertson (Televised – 1pm)
Neil showed signs that he was back to his best in his first two frames against Ricky Walden and then went off the boil, so he will need to be much more consistent if he is going to beat The Ronald this afternoon.
Based on his last match there are question marks about how Neil will play this afternoon so I will be avoiding all types of win market bets here. Instead I will be jumping on the centuries as The Ronald had two in his first match and Neil had one; so between them should manage at least one!
Martin Gould v Joe Perry (1pm)
Martin was impressive against Mark Selby after getting a 3:1 lead on him and then he finished him off in the deciding frame to win 4:3.
Martin is playing with some real confidence at the moment after reaching the semi-finals last week in Berlin and Joe Perry came from 2:0 down in his last match to win 4:2. So this really has a close match written all over it
Barry Hawkins v Judd Trump (3pm)
I already have a double going on to this match here from yesterday.
Barry really seems to be playing steady snooker after having reached the semi-finals of The Masters and the quarter finals of the German Masters last week, where he only just lost as both matches went to deciding frames!
Judd was impressive in round one after knocking in a 145 break and he will probably come out on top, but I think Barry can win at least two frames here as he will get opportunities due to Judd’s attacking style of play.
