World Grand Prix Snooker Betting Tips – Fri 10th Feb (Semi-Finals)

It’s been a profitable tournament so far and all my tips can be seen on my spreadsheet here.

It’s currently 3:1 to Marco Fu against Mark King and I am putting these tips up early as the outright win price for Marco will change if he wins this match!

The likes of O’ Sullivan, Robertson, Trump and Higgins may well have taken an early bath, but we still have some have some decent players left. Which just goes to show how the standard of snooker has increased over the last few years or so.

The semi-finals start tonight at 7pm with coverage starting on ITV4 at 6.45pm. The format has increased to the best to six frames.

The draw and individual match results can be found here.

I wouldn’t put anyone off doing a Hawkins & Fu win double tonight assuming Marco beats Mark King. But I am going to go a slightly different way instead of backing them both to win outright as if one of them loses tonight I am pretty confident that the other will be lifting the trophy!

Liang Wenbo v Barry Hawkins (7pm)

Liang is a snooker maverick and although he won his first tournament this season, the English Open, I don’t think he is an intelligent snooker players at all. His choice selection is very poor and it will cost him matches. I don’t think he will be a force to be reckoned with that some of the TV snooker pundits are suggesting.

Barry has been really consistent this year reaching a quarter final and a semi-final and should beat Liang tonight to secure another semi-final berth.

Barry has the best recent form out of all the players left in this tournament and rather than back him to win this match at 4/7 (1.57) I will back him to win outright and then assuming Barry wins here, I will probably cover myself depending on who the other finalist is.

Marco Fu v Ryan Day (7pm)

I watched both of these two play this afternoon and I was quite impressed with them both. If I had to pick a winner I would have go with Marco as he looked spectacular against Mark King earlier today, knocking in breaks of 102, 98 & 78.

Ryan got five half centuries against Shaun Murphy in his last match and only has the one ton plus break to his name so far. Marco on the other hand has rattled in three centuries and a 98 too!
