There were some surprising results yesterday as Marco Fu lost 4:0, Shaun Murphy got beat 4:3 by a player ranked 100+ and despite Neil Robertson getting two centuries he lost too. Then to top it off The Ronald was 3:0 up against Mark Davis and lost 4:3; The last time Mark beat The Ronald was sixteen years ago!
Round three starts on Thursday and it’s still the first to four frames so I will continue to avoid backing favourites to win until the format gets longer (quarter finals onwards). Round four starts in the evening session so there may well be further tips to follow.
Mark Davis v Fergal O’ Brien (12pm)
Mark is he favourite here but I think this match will be a close one as Fergal is cueing really well at the moment and has the highest break of all of the remaining players left in the tournament of 142.
The last twice that these two played the best of sevens it ended 4:3 with each player winning once.
Graeme Dott v Lee Walker (Televised – 12pm)
The bookies make Graeme the favourite here but I think Lee can win at least two frames in this televised match. He has a 130 break to his name and he beat Robbo 4:3 in his last match.
