It will be a busy day for darts in Butlins in Minehead today as the winner will have to win three matches to win the first prize of £70,000. The first session starts at 12.45pm and then the semi-finals start at 7pm followed closely by the final.
I didn’t get to post any tips for yesterday’s evening matches as the only bet I really fancied was Daryl Gurney to get the most 180s against Vincent van der Voort. But as their match wasn’t televised the bookies didn’t price up all markets for that match.
So far so good as I have 2/3 winning tips plus my outright win bet here is looking pretty good. I am getting stuck into all 4 matches this afternoon and I am looking forward to a lazy Sunday in front of the box with Wright & Co keeping me entertained.
Kim Huybrechts v Alan Norris
I saw Kim’s match against Joe Cullen and I have to say that I was impressed with his performance as he was 4:1 down and came back to win 10:9 getting three 100+ checkouts along the way.
He also has the highest three dart average of the remaining players of 102 and has 53% on his doubles which should be enough to beat Alan Norris.
Ian White v Gerwyn Price
I am not a big fan of Gerwyn Price as I have seen him lose a few matches on TV where he had a decent lead.
Ian has managed 62.50% on his doubles in his last two matches and beat Gerwyn the last twice that they played.
Simon Whitlock v Daryl Gurney
Daryl won their last two matches 6:5 and I am expecting another close match again this afternoon as both are playing well at the moment.
Daryl has been throwing 180s for fun and is the joint highest 180 hitter this weekend at sixteen along with Barney.
Simon is the favourite to win this one, but I have a gut feeling that Daryl will come through here but not enough to put my money down, so I will cover more bases if I go for a close match instead.
Peter Wright v Raymond van Barneveld
I don’t usually get involved in a Barney match but I will here as he has been pretty potent on the 180s front getting sixteen, twice as much as Peter.
Hills are offering 7/4 for Barney to get the most 180s, which looks good to me! But I prefer to lay Peter instead as I win if it’s a draw!
