PDC Premier League Darts Betting Tips – Thu 23rd Mar (Week 8)

Michael van Gerwen is hoping to do a Chizzy by winning both of his matches on Thursday as week eight of the Betway Premier League takes us to The Manchester Arena. At the opposite end of the table Kim Huybrechts and Jelle Klaasen will be scraping it out to stay in the tournament.

I really fancy all five favourites to win and it’s very tempting at 6/1 with Black Type but I will stick with my Edge treble which has a bit of built in safety.

Michael van Gerwen v James Wade

Michael should win here but I will sit this one out only because James beat Michael in the Premier League 7:4 last year.

Kim Huybrechts v Gary Anderson

Kim is joint last and is the only player who is yet to win a match. Although Gary got beat last week by Raymondo, I am expecting him to claim the spoils here getting several 180s along the way against Kim who seems to consistently wilt at the end of most of his Premier League matches.

Peter Wright v Phil Taylor

You can get evens on Peter to win here which seems a great price to me for a player who is playing the best darts of his life. Phil did get four 180s in week six, but is still the player to have hit the least amount of 180s.

Jelle Klaasen v Adrian Lewis

I am going to break with my rule of not betting in an Adrian Lewis match, but I will here as Jelle has been pretty poor in this years tournament. He is rooted at the bottom of the table alongside Kim and Adrian should put paid to Jelle’s chances of avoiding elimination in Cardiff next week.

Raymond van Barneveld v Michael van Gerwen

Barney was fantastic last week against Gary, but I think the final match of the night will revert back to business as usual with a routine MvG win.

I will sit this match out as I don’t see any point backing Michael in any market as he is too short for me.

PDC World Championship – Mon 2nd Jan (Final – Part 2)

Michael van Gerwen v Gary Anderson

I have already put up 2 tips last night here and as suggested I have one more.

Michael van Gerwen v Gary Anderson (8pm)

Michael was fantastic against Barney last night getting a 3 dart average of 114. He has hit a total of three 170 finishes in his last three matches and Paddy Power’s enhanced hat trick (win, most 180’s & highest checkout) of 3/1 looks very tempting.

Now I know that Gary is a prolific 180 hitter but at 3/1 the hat trick is worth a go as it’s likely that Micheal will win and will get a high checkout so “in theory” it’s 3/1 on him getting the most 180s. Plus I already have Gary backed to get over 15.5 180s so I have a bit of cover there!

Please note that when you put this bet on with Paddy Power it is priced at 2 prices; 9/4 and 3/1.So make sure that you look for the enhanced price (3/1)!

Daryl Gurney
Daryl Gurney

Darts is back and we continue with round two which is over two sessions on Tuesday.

Just one bet for me for in this session, a double.

Click here to see my tips for the evening session.

Robert Thornton v Daryl Gurney (3pm)

Robert won the Grand Prix in Dublin at 80/1 beating MvG in the final in 2015 but his darts game has gone astray ever since. Both Daryl and Robert were poor on their doubles but Daryl’s 3 dart average was significantly higher and that should be enough to get him over the line in this match.

Dave Chisnall v Chris Dobey (4.45pm)

Dave will probably win this but he can be a bit suspect on his doubles, but where he excels is being a prolific 180 hitter. He managed the most 180s in round one of nine compared to Chris’s two.

PDC World Championship – Tue 27th Dec (Round 2, Evening Session)

PDC world championsip trophy

It’s Christmas Eve and I just had a quick peek at the matches for Tuesday and thought that William Hill’s 6/4 for a Phil Taylor hatrick (win, most 180s & highest checkout) against Kevin Painter seemed a bit over priced!

My tip below is my only tip for the evening session and I will put up a separate post for the afternoon session.

Phil Taylor v Kevin Painter (9.30pm)

Kevin Painter’s highest checkout in his last match was 124 and he did get four 180s, but his doubles were only 36% compared to Phil’s 50% and Phil’s 3 darts average was 104 compared to Kevin’s 85.

Phil is very happy with his game and he mentioned after his round one win that he is doing something different that is paying dividends, but wasn’t willing to share what it is. Where as Kevin is in free fall really and in my opinion his last match win was a one off and not a sign of things to come.

Michael van Gerwen v Cristo Reyes (10.45pm)

Michael needs no introduction really, but I have to point out that he has no weakness in his game, well apart from missing way too many double twelves on nine darters!

PDC World Championship – Thu 22nd Dec (K Huybrechts v J Wilson)

Kim Huybrechts
Kim Huybrechts

A bit late I know, but I had to cancel my initial tip on this match as I got the price wrong.

Kim Huybrechts v James Wilson (10.15pm)

Kim is the obvious favourite in this match and rightly, so but I think this match will be much closer than the odds suggest.

These two played in the European Championship in October and James won 6:3. James also beat Dave Chisnall in November 5:2 in the Grand Slam Of Darts. But Kim has been playing better over the last two or three months and should come out on top.

The big plus is that Kim is throwing first, which is a massive advantage!

PDC World Championship – Fri 23rd Dec (Round 2 – Part 2)

Darren Webster & Simon Whitlock
Darren Webster & Simon Whitlock

Round two commences tomorrow where it’s the first to four legs and played over two sessions at 1pm and 7pm. There are six matches on Friday and I am getting involved in four of them with a total of five tips.

Afternoon Session (1pm)
Ian White v Jonny Clayton
Michael Smith v Mervyn King
Benito van de Pas v Terry Jenkins

Evening Session (7pm)
Darren Webster v Simon Whitlock
Gary Anderson v Andrew Gilding
Adrian Lewis v Joe Cullen

Click HERE to see the tip for Friday that I put up early as I thought that the price would come down.

Friday will be the last day of darts before the Christmas break and then it’s back in full swing on Tuesday 27th December.

Ian White v Jonny Clayton (1.15pm)

Jonny Clayton had one of the lowest doubles percentages for round one of 35% and went out in the first round in his two previous tournaments.

Ian White is playing steady enough by beating who he should and getting beat by top players. His last two defeats both went to deciding legs.

Ian just has too much experience and more in his locker for Jonny and should win easily enough.

Benito van de Pas v Terry Jenkins (4pm)

There were only a handful of players who got over 60% and Benito van de Pas was one of them at 61% which should be enough for him to win this match against Terry Jenkins who only manged 38%.

This won’t be a one sided match as Terry’s last three wins were against some handy players: Josh Payne, Ian white and Scott Mitchell. So I expect Terry to win at least two sets in this first to four sets format.

Terry is talking about retirement as the travelling is getting to him and he wants to pursue other interests. But I bet we see him back here again next year.

Simon Whitlock v Darren Webster (7.15pm)

Darren Webster knocked out Simon Whitlock here last year and then beat him again 6:3 in the Players Championship last month.

I tipped Darren at 7/4 to beat Stephen Bunting in the first round and he duly obliged. In fact he has won six out of his last seven matches and can be forgiven for his loss which was against Michael van Gerwen. He notably claimed the scalp of  Phil Taylor (5:0) in the Grand Slam Of Darts in November and then went 6:0 up against Michael van Gerwen, eventually losing 11:8.

I still think Simon is a worthy favoruite to win this match but It should be a closer match than the odds suggest with Darren putting up a good fight.

Daren’s highest checkout in his first match was 157 and Simon managed a 170 & a 158.

PDC World Championship – Fri 23rd Dec (Round 2 – Part 1)

Friday sees the start of round two where the format has increased to the first to four Legs. I always thought that round two started after Christmas, have they brought it forward this year?

Afternoon Session (1pm)
Ian White v Jonny Clayton (1.15pm)
Michael Smith v Mervyn King (2.30pm)
Benito van de Pas v Terry Jenkins (3.45pm)

Evening Session (7pm)
Darren Webster v Simon Whitlock (7.15pm)
Gary Anderson v Andrew Gilding (8.30pm)
Adrian Lewis v Joe Cullen (9.45pm)

I have a total of five tips for Friday in two posts, so click HERE to see the other four.

I have this tip up earlier than normal as Sky Bet seem to be pretty generous with my tip below at 5/4 as it’s a low as 8/11 with Paddy Power! So This may well be shorter come Friday.

Adrian Lewis v Jamie Cullen (10pm)

As a rule I like to avoid betting in Adrian Lewis matches, but Jaime Cullen was impressive in his first match and all his statistic were better than Adrian’s

3 dart average: 101 v 93

180s: 6 v 5

Highest checkout: 117 v 65

Doubles percentage: 38% v 31%

Jamie is very tempting to win at 3/1 and 11/8 +1.5 legs but I am going have a bit of cover by backing over 5.5 sets.
