The Masters 2017 – Draw

the masters trophy

The Masters is held at at Alexandra Palace from Sunday 15th – Sunday 22nd January 2017.

It’s a great tournament from a spectators point of view as it’s a one table set up from the start so you get to see every match.

The German Masters qualifiers and the Scottish Open have yet to be played before Christmas, so I will wait until they are out of the way before putting up my outright win betting tips.

The Open – Outright Win/Trade

Jason Day golfer
Jason Day

The open starts today and it just isn’t the same with Peter Allis and the constant add breaks that Sky forces upon us. None of the top three have won a major this season…yet!

This years Open I am finding pretty tricky to pick a winner. Rory and Jordan are lacking consistency and I don’t really rate Dustin Johnson despite his two recent wins. Which leaves one player, Jason Day.

He doesn’t enter that many tournaments so he is always fresh coming into the majors. So far this year he has won three times. He doesn’t tee off until 9.25am so plenty of time to trade him on Betfair.

The US Open – Round 4 In Running

I have already tipped Shane Lowry to win earlier before he started his final round and gave my reasons why here, but the more that I think of it, the more I am convinced that he will win his first major today. So I am going to have another go in running.

He hasn’t teed off yet and is due to line up with Dustin Johnson at 3.30pm local time or 8.30pm GMT.

The US Open – Lay Tip

Well what has happened to Jason Day and Rory McIlroy?  If they don’t get their acts together they could both miss the cut!

I was really hoping this would be the season where I would see the big three battling it out for the majors with two of them being in the final 2 ball on the Sunday afternoon but it’s not likely this week as the second major of the season is taking shape. All three have been really erratic this season I am wondering if there is a price with some bookie that none of them will win a Major this year!

Well on the plus side my favourite and most profitable player of 2016 has only gone and done it again, yes my cash cow golfer Dusty is at the top of the leaderboard once more.

Dustin Johnson

I remember in the US Open last year Dusty was one shot clear of Jordan Spieth going into the final hole and three putted from around fourteen feet or so to lose the match, two putts would have guaranteed a play-off. So from that moment on I have him marked down as a choker.

He has won 1 tournament each year since he turned pro and is yet to win one this season. He tends to play well in the first two rounds and then has a stinker in either round three or four which scuppers his chances of winning.

I should have laid him last week, but I changed my mind as a lot of the top players were absent because they were putting the finishing touches to their games for this tournament, I am kicking myself now as he had a stinker in round three whch ruined his chances of winning.

But although Rory and Jason are hacking around this week there is still the likes of Jordan and Sergio not too far behind.

NB – Lay means not to win and can only be placed on a betting exchange such as Betfair.

Premier League – Week 14

Week 14 takes us to Manchester where there are 4 matches with each player playing once.

I have something for each match in an accumulator where I have taken draws out of the equation.

Wade v Wright

Peter Wright was excellent last week ending Phil Taylor’s unbeaten 12 week run with 88% on his doubles. Beating James Wade should be a formality.

Anderson v Thornton

Gary Anderson played twice last week getting 2 and 3 180s in his matches. Robert Thornton managed just 2 180s last week. Gary should come out on top hitting treble 20s but I have included the draw for a bit of added safety.

van Gerwen v van Barneveld

Barney seems to up his game against his fellow countryman Michael van Gerwen and when they last played it ended 6-6. Barney probably won’t win but he should managed to win at least 3 legs.

Lewis v Taylor

Taylor was unbeaten in 12 weeks until last week when he lost despite getting a 106 average. Lewis is off the boil as he has lost 2 out for his last 3 premier league matches. The last time these 2 played Phil won 7-1.

Edge Accumulator (money back if 1 leg lets you down)

  • Wright +0.5 Legs

  • Anderson +0.5 180s

  • Barney +4.5 Legs

  • Taylor +0.5 Legs

World Championship – Betting Results

I do have a spreadsheet for all of my tips here, but I thought it might be worthwhile posting a separate post showing my results for this tournament.

I will be changing the way I bet for snooker for next season which should be more profitable, which I will reveal in the next 2 weeks or so.

The Premier League – Week 13

There are five one sided matches tonight and I wouldn’t be putting off anyone for backing all 5 favourites to win tonight at 15/2.

Peter Wright v Phil Taylor

Peter, my ‘Mr Consistent’ has been poor the last few weeks as I know as he has cost me money. He has played with the same darts two weeks running and has been steady on the 180 bed but not finishing well.

Phil is top of the table and playing really well this year but strangely enough he has beaten every player apart from Peter in the premier league and I think that will change tonight!

LAY Wright – 5.00 (4/1)

LAY Taylor To Get The Most 180s – 3.00 (2/1)

Raymond van Barneveld v Gary Anderson

Barney can’t qualify for the semi-finals and he is prone to throwing the towel in. With nothing to play for tonight I expect him not to up his game against the world champion.

LAY Barney – 4.70 (7/2)

  • Back All The Favourite – 13/2 BetFred (7.37)
